An ONLINE yoga Program For LONG HAUL COVID Recovery

There's a significant body of research revealing that the practices of Yoga  work synergistically to heal and revitalize the body.  However, not all Yoga styles and programs are suited for those managing or recovering from chronic illness.  This Yoga program is based on the integration of both western and eastern science in an effort to bring  comfort, healing, and improved function to the lives of those who specifically have Long Haul COVID-19 symptoms and are looking to rehabilitate themselves from those effects.  The 3 main aspects of the program described below may appear similar to other yoga programs, however, utilizing recent yoga research the individual exercises, practices and sequences have been modified to address the specific needs of those searching for LONG HAUL COVID recovery.

Relaxation Practices

You've been through a lot both physically and emotionally.  These practices are designed to assist in the management and reduction of both physical and emotional stress specifically targeting both the Parasympathetic Nervous System and the Vagus Nerve in order to reset and heal the entire system.

Breathwork Retraining

The pulmonary effects of COVID-19 is particularly difficult, with many having experienced both pneumonia and ARDS.  The breathwork aspects of the program are specifically designed to be both gentle and effective in rehabilitating the breathing muscles, while effectively addressing the ventilation-perfusion mismatch.

Gentle Postures & Movements

The pro-inflammatory aspects of COVID-19 in which many experience cytokine overproduction or a cytokine storm which can damage the lungs and other organs of the body often leaves Long Haulers with systemic inflammation long after general recovery from COVID.  By nature yoga integrates breath with movement, which research shows, assists in the reduction of all 5 major inflammatory factors tested during and after COVID-19.  There are also specific breathing techniques that can assist in further reducing inflammation in the body.
